Budapest info
Budapest is divided by the river Danube, which flows north-south through the centre of the city.
Buda is the old part of the city, where you can find the most historical places from the era of the Turkish occupation, and the Hungaro-Austrian Monarchy.
Pest is not only the commercial and business part of the city, but also you can find a lot of museums, historical buildings, churches, and the Great Synagogue in the Jewish quarter.
The city park is blessed with a large number of tourist attractions. This stems from the fact that it was the main venue of the Hungarian millennium celebrations of 1896. Here you can find the Széchenyi thermal baths, the Hyundai Castle, the skating rink , and for younger tourists, the Budapest zoo and the funfair are also packed into this area.....
Rise above it all! Not only does Buda's Castle Hill offer a great view of the Danube from the Fishermans' Bastion, it is also home to a number of attractions, such as the St. Mattias Church, The labyrinth, the Palace and the president's residence.
The Budapest city park was designed as a showcase park for the Hungarian Millenium of 1896. In those days, this was the city boundary, but today it is well within the city limits. Now it houses an even wider collection of attractions including Heroes' square, and its 2 museums, the skating rink, the zoo and the peerless Széchenyi thermal baths.
For a breath of fresh air and unparalleled views of the city, why not whiz up into the Buda Hills with a chairlift and locomote back down in style with the unique children's railway?
